Marina reservation software needs to be unique for many reasons.

When managing marina reservations, a number of issues need to be taken into account.

Length sensitive – The slips on the dock are length sensitive. This means they vary in size so only certain size vessels can fit. For instance a 40 ft slip can fit a 40ft boat or 20 ft and a 15 ft, depending on how you have your marina setup.

Some marinas will sell a slip for a set amount to avoid this issue. Others rent their slips by the foot and will book as many vessels into a slip as possible.

Width of vessels can also be an issue and needs to be tracked in some marinas. Obviously the width of vessels varies enormously. For smaller marinas especially this could become an issue.

Depth can cause problems also if not tracked appropriately in the marina software. Some shallow marinas cannot allow heavy vessels, even if they meet the length stipulations, to dock. This could cause damage to the vessel and ultimately the marina could be sued for damages if found negligent.

Many marinas offer power, fuel, Internet and telephone services to their guests. These also need to be tracked and added to the client folio. Many other incidental charges are usually added at a marina, so the marina software will need to handle this seamlessly.
